We have had a lot of tough times trying to instill in our little one that it's not all about her, but about how we help each other in our house...
I think we achieved a breakthrough today, in the car on our way back from after Amélie's Tae Kwondo lesson:
a: Daddy, can we go to Wonderlab now??
D: Amélie, maybe we can go another time, now we have to go home and do quiet time so that we can have fun this afternoon.
a: But I want to go to Wonderlab NOW (I am sure you can hear the tone, just in between whiny and supplicant, with that hint of teary eyes etc)!!!
D: Well Amélie, we can't go to Wonderlab now, but if you help a lot, we can go later. We already took you to Tae Kwondo today, it's not all about you!!
a: It's not all about you either Dad!!! It's about the WORLD!!!
OK see, now that's progress :)! Dad even has high hopes that these are the seeds of Amélie becoming a global citizen... I must say that in my end, I think it's wishful thinking, but hey balanced optimism is allowed!

Les nouvelles aventures d'Amélie
Now that it's getting warmer, we can take Amélie for outdoors activities almost every day. The big new one? SOCCER!!!
Yes, fans, when you marry a Brazilian, the question is not whether your kid's life will include soccer, but when will the kid start kicking and score his/her first goal... So here it is, the first goal of our Amélie:
I love the enthusiastic 'encouragement' from dad in the background :)...

What kids learn?
In princess and the frog:
Young man: Charlotte, do you want to dance now? You said later!
Charlotte: When a woman says later, she really means not ever!
Ok, now scene from the bath tonight:
D: OK Amélie, let's wash your hair!
A: Daddy, later please!
D: OK in a minute.
A minute later:
D: OK Amélie, time to wash your hair now!
A: Daddy, when a woman says later, she really means not ever!
Time to revisit TV viewing privileges!
